Once again, I have used the render-farm in order to process all the images of my shots in a short amount of time. Have faced some difficulties and setbacks due to congestion and other people waiting to use the render farm for their projects but will get the rest rendered before the deadline.
Submitted the Maya jobs to the render-farm via Qube. Had to upload all folders of files necessary to render the shots as there has been some blank shots and missing files that were vitally assigned to different material assets for the scenes.
A
rendered image of a shot where there seems to be a fault with the girl's
textured skin. After several failed experiments, I figured out that the
character could not be imported directly from my own computer, so I had to
upload everything that was necessary onto the renderfarm, including scenes and
texture files, in order for it to work properly.
Original rendered image of shot involving little girl looking up off-screen.
Unused
shot of the little girl next to a building, I used global illumination and
final gathering again for the lighting effects.
Rendered test shot of St Paul’s Cathedral, using different lighting techniques and background.

Here is a rendered test of the cathedral dome against a sky of clouds
with different lighting and global illumination. The sky is black because I
disabled the physical sky node in Maya so I could composite one in later on.

Rendered test shot of the
street before I made the houses look ruined, have been experimenting with bump
maps, lighting and shader assets.
Shot of the little girl as
she sees the rooftop view. Been trying to tweak the lighting and global
illumination controls in order to get the desired effect, but making good progress so far.
Attempted
doing a shot with CGI clouds using a particle system.
Another test of global
illumination and shadowing, this test piece will not be used in the final cut
though.
Attempted a silhouetted shot
of St Pauls Cathedral, the model is a bit crude in this shot as it is one of
the earlier layout models. Still need to tweak the bump maps on the house
models.
A high angle shot of the incomplete street location, the lighting looks pretty good but still need to play with the texturing on the houses.
Another global illumination
test. Notice the shadowing of the wood planks and the staircase.
Experimental shot, over exposure and lighting intensity has been turned too high.
Another
test with texturing, bump maps and global illumination.
St
Pauls Cathedral, but more texturing needs to be added to the dome.
St Pauls Cathedral without background.
St Pauls Cathedral with background.
Street shot with physical_sun node activated. Played with the lighting a little bit, need to make it dimmer though as I do not wish to make the scene too bright.
Another test shot of one of
the buildings. The bump map node has been turned up too much and the lighting
is not quite good enough. Also the UV Mapping is not entirely complete as the
bricks don’t link up in certain areas of the model.
